First Session

This online training helps educators by providing a lens of relational equity and cultural competency for the purpose of improving student engagement through effective classroom management that focuses on student to educator relationships and student to student relationships.   The purpose of educator relationships is to increase student hope and resiliency as the greatest factor towards graduation and individual success. 

Objectives:

  • Understand how to operationalize relational equity in the classroom.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency - “The will and skill to create authentic and effective relationships across difference”- in the classroom. 
  • Demonstrate the use of Cultural Competency Norms as a reflective guide to deescalate behavior violations through relational strategies. 
  • Understand and apply the research on student hope and resiliency in the school culture.

Second Session

This online training helps educators by providing a lens of relational equity and cultural competency for the purpose of improving student engagement through effective classroom management that focuses on student to educator relationships and student to student relationships.   The purpose of educator relationships is to increase student hope and resiliency as the greatest factor towards graduation and individual success. 

  • Implement strategies based on relational equity that effectively work with students who struggle with low resiliency.
  • Demonstrate the definition of Cultural Competency as a lens for classroom management for the diverse student populations including, but not limited to socio-economic, language, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, gender, religion, age and ability.
  • Use the cultural competency framework of awareness, understanding, skills and advocacy to increase effectiveness with students from diverse populations.  
  • Apply the three universal truths of resiliency research for effective student engagement and classroom management that focuses on asset-based instruction.
